How this plant affects general well-being

The catechins in green tea are powerful antioxidants responsible for all its health benefits. The main catechins present in green tea are epicatechin (EC), epigallocatechin (EGC), epicatechin-3-gallate (ECG), and epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG). How to properly prepare green tea

Making the perfect cup of green tea involves just a few steps.

1. Loose green tea leaves

When preparing green tea, keep in mind that the tea will become bitter if the tea leaves are steeped in boiling water above 90°C. Therefore, steep it in water that is not too hot. Here are the steps to prepare green tea with loose leaves.

The basic amount would be one teaspoon per cup of green tea. Place a teaspoon of green tea leaves in a strainer and set aside. Boil water, let it cool to 80°C to 85°C (say, about 30-45 seconds). Now place the strainer over the cup and pour hot water over it. Let the tea steep for three minutes.

This is the step where you need to be careful: Not everyone likes strong tea, so, to check if the tea tastes right, keep a spoon handy and taste it every 30-45 seconds to find out if the taste is right for you. Remove the strainer with the tea leaves from the cup and, if desired, once it has cooled slightly, sweeten the tea with a teaspoon of honey.

2. Green tea bags

If you are using tea bags, make sure they are made from unbleached material. Most tea bags are bleached to make them white, and you definitely don't want bleach contaminating your antioxidant-rich beverage! Boil water, let the temperature drop to 80-85 degrees C. Place the green tea bag in a ceramic or stainless steel cup. Pour the water, cover, and let it steep for three minutes. Remove the lid and the tea bag. Stir the tea, let it cool slightly, and enjoy its taste.

3. Powdered green tea

Pour 1 ½ teaspoons of green tea powder into a cup. Boil water, let the temperature drop to 80-85°C. Let it steep for three minutes, the color should turn brown, add honey if desired.
