The BiH Border Police announced that Operation Mreža had been prepared for several months in coordination with the BiH Prosecutor's Office, reports the Patria News Agency.
The final activities of the operation were carried out on April 16th based on orders from the BiH Court and the BiH Prosecutor's Office. During searches at 11 locations in BiH, 11 people were arrested. Among those arrested were seven customs officers from the Indirect Taxation Authority of BiH, two police officers from the BiH Border Police, and two citizens of BiH.
Meanwhile, the Office for Professional Standards and Internal Control of the BiH Border Police initiated disciplinary proceedings against the police officers and the procedure for their temporary suspension from the jobs and work tasks they performed in the Gradiška Border Police Unit is underway.
The BiH Border Police submitted a Report to the BiH Prosecutor's Office against seven members of the ITA BiH and two police officers of the BiH Border Police due to the existence of grounds for suspicion that they committed criminal offenses: "association for the commission of criminal offenses", "abuse of official position or authority", and "receiving gifts or other forms of benefit".
The BiH Border Police also submitted a Report to the BiH Prosecutor's Office against two citizens of BiH due to the existence of grounds for suspicion that they committed criminal offenses: "smuggling" and "giving gifts and other forms of benefit". Further procedure regarding this case is under the jurisdiction of the BiH Prosecutor's Office.
