(Patria) - The news that Croatia introduced 14-day self-isolation measures for BiH citizens mid-last week shocked everyone in our country. Our government, which should have at least had information that this would happen, was 'surprised by Croatia's decision,' as stated by the BiH Minister of Foreign Affairs Bisera Turković, after journalists managed to reach her for a first comment several hours after the information from Croatia, and she announced that 'a session of the BiH Council of Ministers will be held on Tuesday and this issue will be discussed at that session.'?!
Such a confused and inadequate response from the Deputy Chairwoman of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs emboldened the Croatian authorities, who, after introducing self-isolation measures, also banned the transit of BiH citizens who, especially over the weekend, were heading to Neum!!! They couldn't go through Doljani, so Svitava was the only option to reach their sea and a bit of rest.
The honor of our country and the dignity of its citizens were timely and dignifiedly saved only by the opposition. Thus, the leader of the Independent Bloc, Senad Šepić, was the first to speak out and asked the BiH Council of Ministers to react immediately, urgently, and adopt the same measures towards Croatia, reciprocity, because, as he said, 'it takes two to tango.' Our portal also wrote about this.
Had the BiH authorities had the foresight and capacity for such responsible and state-level moves, we are convinced that Croatia would not only have not banned transit by now, but would have completely repealed the self-isolation measures.
The policy pursued by the ruling parties, especially the largest one, SDA, with its partners, has brought BiH and its citizens to this state, where we are humiliated however and whenever anyone wants.
That Tegeltija, as Dodik's appointee, or Čović's members of the BiH Council of Ministers will be deaf to the needs of BiH citizens and remain silent to the insults from Croatia, that is probably clear to all of us.
However, when Bosniaks at the highest level in that same Council of Ministers are represented by a person who has long passed retirement age and whose party leader says she makes gaffes and that there will be more in the future, then we know we are in a dire situation and can expect nothing else in the period ahead.
Bosniaks have never been in a worse or weaker position in the state government than in this mandate when Bakir Izetbegović, for petty intra-party gains, weakening his party's competition, weakened the state by proposing Bisera Turković for the position of Deputy Chairwoman. In that package, the position of Minister of Security was also handed over to Fahrudin Radončić in exchange for taking over the government in Sarajevo Canton, which he very quickly left, thus irresponsibly leaving it at the mercy of Dodik and Čović. From the third ministry, that of defense, filled by Željko Komšić's appointee, we certainly cannot expect significant progress, because all decisions must be coordinated with two deputies, who are again aligned with Dodik's and Čović's policies.
Therefore, the current position of our country and the dignity of our people are severely threatened, and the belated reactions of Minister Turković sound pathetic. Today she was again 'surprised that BiH citizens are not even allowed transit through Croatia to Neum, so she will propose reciprocal measures towards Croatia at the session of the BiH Council of Ministers on the 'first upcoming working day.' This should be today, Monday is the first working day, although she previously announced that the session was scheduled for Tuesday?!
We will follow. And we can already bet that this will also be a gaffe for her. However, although her party leader announced that there will be more gaffes from her, for the sake of our country and any future, it would be good if there weren't at least two per week.
