What is life like in the coldest city in the world?

And that you can only bathe once a week? For some, such a life is a daily reality.

Yesterday, the temperature in Yakutsk, the coldest city in the world, was -31°C. That's actually good, considering that during winter temperatures there can drop to -50°C.

And the lowest temperature ever recorded in that Russian city - specifically in the village of Oymyakon, which is considered the coldest place on Earth - is -71 degrees.

The coldest month in Yakutsk is January, and the city's residents take extra precautions to protect themselves.

However, the air is cold enough to numb exposed skin, making frostbite a constant danger.

Kiun B. grew up in Yakutsk, Siberia, and documents her life on her YouTube channel, where she has over 1.4 million subscribers. Her videos get millions of views.

10 months ago, she posted a video titled "Raising 22 Children in the Coldest City in the World," which has garnered 21 million views to date, reports Index.hr.

In that video, she describes how father Alexander Pavlov starts his day by cutting ice so the family has enough water for the day.

The Pavlov family has 22 children, 18 of whom are adopted. Eight still live in the family home, while the others are grown and have started their own families. School is cancelled if it's too cold outside.

Kiun says the city has functional public transport that operates even in extreme cold. Fruits and vegetables are very expensive in this city, so they often use frozen foods.

In one video, she described how citizens entertain themselves during extreme cold.

People with children spend weekends at home in the warmth, only going grocery shopping on Saturdays. Younger people spend their free time ice skating, visiting museums, shopping, or going to the cinema.

Some say they don't like the cold, but they are used to it. "When the temperature drops below -50°C, you feel the cold, it's hard to breathe, and you don't feel like doing anything," said one citizen.

"It's beautiful in winter. I like winter here," "I love to travel. I work here and I love to travel, but I wouldn't live anywhere else," added other women.

Kiun points out that locals are used to the cold and, despite the challenges, do not want to live in a warmer place.
