Bosnian-Herzegovinian writer Ibrahim Kajan sent a letter of support to the Turkish Embassy in BiH for Turkish intellectuals, who were arrested by police several days ago for supporting Kurds, reports the Patria news agency.
Turkish police arrested several intellectuals who signed a petition demanding a halt to military operations against Kurdish rebels, which sparked the anger of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The Turkish news agency Anadolu reported that more than 20 university staff were detained as part of an investigation opened due to, as they stated, 'terrorist propaganda and insulting institutions and the Turkish republic'.
Nearly 1,200 people signed a petition on Monday demanding a halt to the intervention of Turkish security forces against supporters of the Kurdistan Workers' Party in the southeast of the country.
BiH writer Kajan states in his letter that he loves Turkey, but also loves Kurds in Turkey and beyond, and hopes that the entire situation will be resolved soon.
- No one, out of defiance, seeks more freedom than they have. Against the violence being carried out against them, more than 1,000 intellectuals and academics raised their voices with their declaration. The Turkish academics who were arrested acted according to the dictates of moral principles, and every thinking person will support them. Such people do not deserve prisons, but respect. Moral principles are of Divine origin. That is why I am publicly sending you my appeal, for my conscience and for the love I have for your people - wrote Kajan.
I am convinced that the great statesman Recep Tayyip Erdogan, President of the Republic of Turkey, will also show his wisdom and his human greatness in this case, added the BiH writer, reports NAP.
