Elderly woman M.D. murdered in her apartment yesterday, perpetrator arrested!

Irfan Nefić, spokesperson for the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton, confirmed to the BH News Agency Patria that the lifeless body of elderly woman M.D. (born 1936) was found yesterday at Jukićeva Street number 47. According to Patria's findings, the death occurred by violent means.

- At 14:20, the Centar Police Department received a call reporting a lifeless body in an apartment, and patrols along with an emergency medical team were dispatched. Doctors could only confirm death. The acting prosecutor of the Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor's Office conducted an investigation, certain traces and evidence were collected, and several individuals were interviewed. Following the order of the Municipal Court in Sarajevo, at 18:30, a search of the apartment on the floor above the victim's apartment, used by E.V. (born 1979) and his common-law wife, was carried out. Evidence was found pointing to the commission of robbery resulting in death. At 22:20, E.V. was apprehended. He is a repeat offender with multiple previous convictions for criminal offenses - stated Nefić, adding that the police did everything to shed light on this crime as quickly as possible.

The victim's granddaughter, N. D. (28), went to the scene and told the BH News Agency Patria that the victim was strangled with a cable and had previously been hit with a blunt object in the head. The victim had been experiencing memory problems, i.e., dementia, in recent years and often forgot to lock the door.

- Neighbors constantly visited, and I visited too, but it's obvious that the moment she was alone was exploited. As I was told, the arrested person is known to the police for drug use. She didn't have money as she lived only on her pension. He lived above her and knew exactly what the situation was. I have no words, truly - said a visibly shaken N.D.

The autopsy of M.D. will be performed tomorrow, and the apartment was sealed after yesterday's investigation. The Cantonal Prosecutor's Office is expected to determine measures for the arrested E.V. tomorrow.
