Jozo Šimović and Eustahije best at the donkey race in Čapljina

(Patria) - The "Donkey Race" was held in Čapljina on Sunday, and the fastest was the donkey Eustahije and its owner Jozo Šimović.

Besides Jozo Misir and Eustahije, also competing were Hrvoje Čepo (Ero), Bruno Jakiša (Bećar), Boško Jurković (Pončo), Anđela Matuško (Daša), AnaMarija Dragičević (Rambo), Josip Majetić, Nikica Dragičević (Dajguz), Neđo Čuljak (Miško), Josip Majić (Đozla) and Pero Čamo (o.p.g)

- Our goal is to preserve the customs of Herzegovina, and since the donkey is one of the animals that was present in a large number of households in Herzegovina, we decided to hold this race in this way - emphasized the organizers.

HKUD "Zora" Struge/Gorica and HKUD "Leopold" Gradobine opened the event with their performance.

In the saddlebag discipline, competitors in traditional costumes showed their skill in loading and unloading donkeys.

In addition to the race, a Small Christmas Fair was also held. The Primary School for Children with Special Needs from Mostar presented their handicrafts, and visitors could enjoy an exhibition of handicrafts and products from local family farms.
