Jovan Tintor's prison sentence reduced for crimes in Vogošća

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Appellate Chamber of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina rendered a verdict reducing Jovan Tintor's sentence to ten years in prison for crimes against humanity committed in 1992 in the area of Vogošće, the Balkan Investigative Reporting Network of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BIRN BiH) has learned. 

This information was confirmed by Tintor's Defense, stating that the appeal of the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina was rejected, while the Defense's appeal was partially granted, and he was finally sentenced to ten years in prison.

The former president of the Crisis Staff of the Municipality of Vogošće was initially sentenced to 11 years in prison. 

Tintor was found guilty by the first-instance verdict in August last year on seven counts of the indictment for participating in a widespread and systematic attack on the non-Serb population of Vogošće in the period from April to the end of July 1992. The same verdict acquitted Tintor of some allegations in the indictment.
