Marš mira 2015 registrations still open, but road section not yet repaired

Preparations for the 2015 Marš mira are in full swing, but the landslide on the road section that participants will use has not yet been repaired, confirmed Hamdija Fejzić, president of the Sub-committee for Marš mira and president of the Srebrenica Municipal Assembly for the Patria News Agency.

- The repair has not even started yet, a tender has been issued and a contractor has been selected, but there is the legal appeal period, which expires tomorrow. However, by July 8, everything will be ready for the start of the Marš mira – Fejzić said.

As Fejzić stated, the number of registered participants for this year's 11th Marš mira is not final because registrations are still open, and organized groups have also announced their participation.

I don't think it will be less than in previous years. That number is around 10,000, but I wouldn't predict – Fejzić said.

Marš participants will cover a distance of over 100 km, and the column will depart on Wednesday, July 8, between 8:45 and 9 AM from Nezuk. Participants will follow this route: Bakrači - Glodi - Udrč - Cerska - Kaldrmica - Đugum - Mravinjci - Burnice - Kameničko Brdo - Ravni Buljim - Jaglići - Šušnjari - Budak - Potočari (Memorial Center). Arrival in Potočari is expected on July 10.

Fejzić said that on July 11, numerous delegations from the region and the whole world will attend the commemoration and burial of the victims of the Srebrenica genocide in Potočari.

- As we were informed by the US Embassy, a delegation from the White House will attend. We know that former president Bill Clinton will come, and there is information that Joe Biden, the Vice President of the USA, will also come. We believe that everyone who wishes to pay their respects to the victims and thereby acknowledge the genocide in Srebrenica is welcome – Fejzić said.

On Monday, a meeting of the Organizing Committee will be held to determine further activities regarding the commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the genocide in Srebrenica.
