SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Internal Affairs Police Directorate issued a statement regarding the case of Ilidža Municipal Councilor Mahir Lokvančić, who reported to the police that he found a bottle with flammable liquid on his terrace, and two hand grenades near his house.

"On 12/23/2021 at 12:00 PM, the Fifth Police Department was informed that on Igmanskih bataljona street, Ilidža municipality, on the open terrace of a house owned by M.L. from Sarajevo, a bottle containing a liquid with the smell of fuel was noticed. Police officers went to the scene and confirmed the report. Two hand grenades were found and seized near the house. The duty prosecutor of the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office of Sarajevo Canton was informed about the incident. An investigation at the scene was carried out by police officers of the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Internal Affairs Police Directorate, who are continuing their work to shed light on and document the aforementioned criminal offense," the police announced.

The Municipal Board of SDA Ilidža also commented on this case, condemning the inhuman act of attacking the house of their friend and colleague, councilor Mahir Lokvančić.

"We call on the authorities to investigate and shed light on this cowardly act as soon as possible and to sanction those responsible," stated the press release from the OO SDA Ilidža.

"Such events and the lukewarm reaction of the authorities instill fear and unrest among honest and exemplary citizens, such as our Mahir. With the hope that such things will no longer happen in our society, we express our full support to Mahir Lokvančić in these difficult moments of trial for him and his family," the statement reads.

Councilor Lokvančić's house is covered by video surveillance, and the recordings have been handed over to the police.
