The working group for assessing the abolition of sticker labels for cars in BiH has still not made a decision on whether these stickers will be abolished or not. The working group was proposed by the Council of Ministers of BiH.
Stickers have not been present in BiH for some time. Instead of them, drivers, when registering their vehicles, receive a paper on which the registration validity date is written, which is certainly also written in the vehicle registration document. So this paper is also unnecessary, just as the sticker is unnecessary.
What are car stickers and who do they even serve? Traffic experts explain that the car stickers used in Bosnia and Herzegovina are of no use to anyone. Nevertheless, a driver pays five KM for a sticker when registering a vehicle. With nearly a million cars in BiH, drivers pay about five million KM every year.
The idea was for the police to monitor whether a vehicle is registered based on the sticker. In practice, this does not work. A police officer who stops a vehicle sees the validity of the registration in the vehicle registration document. Drivers will confirm that the police never pay attention to the stickers.
A few months ago, the tender for printing new labels was "overturned", after one of the bidders complained about the regularity of the selection of the company that was supposed to print the stickers. A new tender has not yet been announced. In the meantime, the commission is reviewing whether these stickers will be printed at all for the needs of BiH drivers, NAP reports.
