Yemeni Houthis say they shot down American drone

(Patria) - Yemeni Houthis said they shot down an American MQ-9 drone that was carrying out hostile actions over the airspace of Marib province, the group's spokesman Yahya Saree said last night.

The Houthis have waged a campaign against international shipping traffic passing through the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, which they say is in solidarity with Palestinians amid the war between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

Attacks by Yemeni Houthis with missiles and drones, targeting ships they say are linked to Israel, have disrupted traffic in a vital maritime zone for global trade, agencies reported.

Some media outlets reported that this is the eighth drone of this type that the Houthis have shot down since the beginning of the war in the Gaza Strip.
