Jeličić: Aid for tourism sector, IMF funds for Sarajevo Canton to be used for economic recovery

SARAJevo, (Patria) – Nihada Glamoč, commander of the Civil Protection Staff of Sarajevo Canton, stated that in the last 24 hours, 58 people were tested, of whom four were positive, and the number of recovered individuals is five.

"Regarding the last 24 hours, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton issued 15 orders for violating self-isolation," said Glamoč.

She confirmed that there are 2,075 newly registered unemployed individuals in the records of the Employment Service of Sarajevo Canton during this period.

"Out of 130 people in quarantine at Bjelave, 18 people received decisions allowing them to continue their 14-day stay in home isolation. Seven are in forced isolation at Bjelave," said Glamoč.

Glamoč called on citizens to respect all measures.

The Minister of Economy of Sarajevo Canton, Draško Jeličić, stated that measures for the tourism sector – hoteliers, travel agencies, and tour guides – will be implemented very soon.

"Further measures being implemented relate to the preparation of a medium-term plan of measures. We must involve all levels of government in this activity. It is very difficult for a devastated economy to achieve quick results. We have already provided some relief for the economy, and these will be implemented as long as the state of natural disaster lasts.

Speaking about donor funds being paid into the Fund, it is mostly about funds from businessmen from Sarajevo Canton who want to help those most vulnerable.

"A portion of the funds from the IMF that will be allocated to Sarajevo Canton will be entirely used to aid the economy; also, the EU has allocated 73 million euros for small and medium-sized enterprises," said Jeličić.
