
(Patria) - A fire broke out in a nursing home in the village of Arto in the municipality of Sevnica in Slovenia last night, resulting in the death of one resident, RTV Slovenia reported on Saturday.
The nursing home "Impoljca" confirmed that the fire in their facility broke out shortly after 8:00 PM the previous night, and that three employees who assisted in extinguishing the fire were hospitalized due to smoke inhalation.
The director of the nursing home, Darja Cizelj, stated that a criminal investigation into the incident is underway, and according to the initial unofficial findings of criminal investigators, the fire in one of the home's rooms was caused by a cigarette.
Cizelj said that the deceased elderly man was a smoker.
