One person arrested for international human smuggling

(Patria) - Police officers of the Federal Police Administration, acting on the order of the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and as part of the operational action "Liberterra II", arrested a citizen of the Republic of Turkey with initials S.A. (1986) on suspicion of committing the criminal offense of "Human Smuggling" under Article 189, Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of BiH, in conjunction with Articles 26 and 29 of the same law, and the criminal offense of "Giving Gifts and Other Forms of Benefit" under Article 218 of the Criminal Code of BiH.

The said person is suspected of having, on 19.09.2024 around 00:30 in Čatrnja, city of Gradiška, in close proximity to the border of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Croatia, for the purpose of international human smuggling, taken over and accepted 11 citizens of Syria, in order to enable them to illegally cross the border.

After criminal processing at the premises of the Federal Police Administration, the person will be handed over to the jurisdiction of the Prosecutor's Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
