One Italian priest has been removed from the Church due to accusations of participating in gay orgies, seeking partners online, writes independent.co.uk, reports the Patria News Agency.
The case was revealed by a 32-year-old man from the city of Rovigo, who complained to the church about a 50-year-old priest, but as they ignored him, he decided to turn to the media.
He said he met the priest on Facebook where they corresponded, and the priest soon admitted to him that he was gay and had sexual relations with other priests. He allegedly sought sexual partners online, he said. The archbishop removed the priest from his post and launched an internal investigation, which will also use the correspondence between the priest and the 32-year-old, which the latter saved.
A Vatican spokesperson said that the church leadership is appalled by this case, and the second case concerns the suspicion that another priest murdered one of his parishioners.
Gratien Alabi is accused of murdering one of his parishioners. Her bones were found under the tiles in the chapel.
Police suspect the bones belong to Guerrina Piscagli (50), who disappeared last year, and they suspect the priest was in a relationship with her. The case has attracted significant attention from the Italian media, with some reporting that they even had a child together. Alabi denies all accusations.
