JD Vance: Israel is not committing genocide, but images of suffering children in Gaza are heartbreaking

(Patria) - US Vice President JD Vance rejected accusations that Israel is committing genocide in the Gaza Strip.

However, he expressed regret that some people in his ranks lack humanity and do not see the current suffering of Palestinians in the war-torn enclave.

- I look at those videos, those images, and they are heartbreaking - Vance said on comedian Theo Von's podcast, who described the footage from the Gaza Strip as horrific.

Vance points out that his country is trying to solve two problems - on one hand, there are innocent Palestinians, and on the other, innocent Israeli hostages "who have been drawn into the horrific ongoing violence".

- We are trying to provide as much aid as possible to the people - Vance said, reports Times of Israel.

He added that, on the other hand, Israel is being attacked by a horrific terrorist organization, and people sometimes forget that this war was initiated by a horrific terrorist attack in which many innocent Israeli civilians were killed.

Vance emphasized that President Donald Trump's administration is trying to achieve a peaceful solution that would convince Israel that Hamas will never attack it again and kill a mass of civilians.

- You also have to provide as much humanitarian aid and support to the Palestinians as possible, because they too have been drawn into all of this - Vance said, without discussing a political solution to the broader Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

He pointed out that what he dislikes about the entire debate about Israel and Palestinians is that it has somewhat degraded humanity, "because there are people, mostly on the left, who completely ignore that so many innocent Israelis were killed in a terrorist attack, while others on the right completely ignore the fact that children have found themselves in the midst of this violence".

He also criticized those in pro-Israel and Republican circles who claim that Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff is not sufficiently pro-Israel.

Vance claims that Israel is not committing genocide in Gaza, adding that he does not think Israelis are intentionally trying to kill all Palestinians, but rather that they have been dealt a severe blow and are trying to destroy the terrorist organization Hamas that delivered it.

- On the other hand, I have seen people from my political circle who look at images of innocent Palestinian children and say, 'they deserved it'.

No, no. If you have a soul, then your heart breaks when you see a small child suffering - Vance stated, adding that this led the Trump administration to try to stop the conflict.
