JD Vance: If the war in Ukraine doesn't stop, everything could escalate into a nuclear conflict

(Patria) - US Vice President JD Vance was a guest on the podcast of conservative influencer and MAGA fanatic Charlie Kirk, where he spoke about the recent meeting between US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky.

Trump and Zelensky met in the Vatican, during the Pope's funeral, which was their first face-to-face meeting since Trump's return to the White House and a previous meeting in the Oval Office attended by Vance.

Commenting on the current progress of negotiations on a possible cessation of the war in Ukraine, Vance emphasized that the talks are in full swing, but are difficult and uncertain.

- Sometimes you are frustrated with the Ukrainians, sometimes with the Russians, that is the nature of negotiations. But President Trump does not allow us to throw up our hands and give up. He forces us to return to the table and find a solution - said Vance.

According to him, the biggest progress so far is the fact that both Russia and Ukraine are openly discussing the conditions under which they would end the conflict, although their demands still differ significantly.

- That is precisely the job of diplomacy - to try to bring together two sides that seek different things. I cannot guarantee that we will succeed, but today I am more optimistic than two weeks ago, and then I was more optimistic than two months ago - Vance states.

He explains that diplomacy uses a combination of pressure, rewards, and threats, but that the goal is clear: "To stop a war that threatens to turn into a catastrophe of even greater proportions".

He also warned of the possible consequences of the continuation of the war.

- If this is not stopped, the Ukrainians will not win, they will lose. The media creates the illusion that if the war lasts longer, Russia will simply collapse and Ukraine will regain all territories. That is not the reality - Vance believes.

He added that the war could cause a "demographic collapse in both countries", millions of new victims, and, in the worst case, "escalation into a nuclear conflict".

- This must stop. This is the official policy of this administration. President Trump is asking all of us, including me personally, to work on this day and night - Vance concluded.
