Jared Kushner arrived in Israel for talks with Netanyahu on Gaza

(Patria) - US President Donald Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner, arrived in Israel on Sunday for talks with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the implementation of the US plan to end the war in Gaza, a source familiar with the matter told Reuters.

Kushner was expected to meet Netanyahu on Monday, the source said, speaking on condition of anonymity because the meeting was not formally announced. The White House and Netanyahu's office did not immediately respond to Reuters' request for comment.

Trump announced a twenty-point plan in September to end the two-year war in the Palestinian territory, starting with a ceasefire that took effect on October 10 and the release of hostages held by Hamas in Gaza.

The militant group has released twenty living hostages and the remains of 24 hostages from Gaza since October 10. There are four deceased hostages whose remains are still in Gaza.

The next phase of the ceasefire is expected to include the establishment of multinational forces that would gradually take over security within Gaza from the Israeli army.

An Israeli government spokesperson stated earlier on Sunday that there would be "no Turkish soldiers on the ground" in Gaza as part of these multinational forces.

Asked about Israeli objections to Turkish forces in Gaza, US Ambassador to Turkey Tom Barrack said at a security conference in Manama earlier this month that Turkey would participate.

Vice President JD Vance said last month that Ankara would have a "constructive role", but that Washington would not force anything on Israel when it comes to foreign troops "on their ground".
