Japan, still in shock over the beheading of two of its citizens by the Islamic State (IS), announced on Tuesday that it will provide $15.5 million in support of the fight against terrorism in the Middle East and Africa, reports the Patria News Agency.
Japanese Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida emphasized that Deputy Minister Yasuhide Nakayama will officially and in detail speak about the aid at an anti-terrorism conference later this week in Washington.
This amount includes $7.5 million that Kishida pledged during a visit to Brussels in January.
The money is intended to increase counter-terrorism capabilities in the Middle East and Africa, Hina reported.
