Hezbollah sources say Nasrallah is safe after Israeli airstrikes

Hezbollah security sources informed Press TV that Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, the movement's leader, is safe and unharmed in Israeli airstrikes on the outskirts of Beirut.

This statement came after rumors circulating on social media that Nasrallah was targeted during a major Israeli airstrike on the Dahiya neighborhood in southern Beirut on Friday.

Reports also state that Sayyed Hashem Safieddine, head of Hezbollah's Executive Council, is safe, and Iran's Tasnim news agency, citing informed sources in Lebanon, says no Hezbollah commander was killed in the Israeli attacks.

Six buildings were razed as a result of the attack on the southern suburb of Beirut. The Lebanese Ministry of Health announced that at least two people were killed and 76 were injured in the attack.

Israeli military radio reported that F-35 aircraft used bunker-busting bombs. Reuters reported that Nasrallah was unavailable after the attack, citing a source close to Hezbollah. Hours after the attack, Hezbollah did not issue a statement on the leader's fate.

A source close to Hezbollah later told Reuters that Nasrallah is alive.
A senior Iranian security official told Reuters that Tehran is verifying his status. Lebanese media report that civil defense personnel are working to extinguish fires that broke out in the area and evacuate the injured.

Media then reported numerous Israeli airstrikes on the southern part of Beirut on Friday night into Saturday, as well as across Lebanon.
