Report from March 17, 2001: Milošević's regime paid perpetrators of genocide who ended up in The Hague

On March 17, 2001, a report on the 30th Personnel Center arrived at the cabinet of the then Prime Minister of Serbia, Zoran Đinđić, from the General Staff of the Yugoslav Army. Among other things, it was stated that this center of the Yugoslav Army was formed on November 10, 1993, by order of the President of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, Slobodan Milošević, writes Patria.

The center consisted of members of the Yugoslav Army who were sent to the territory of Republika Srpska and it concerns their status until 2001, confirming that all members of the 30th Personnel Center were paid by Slobodan Milošević's regime, both during the aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina and for the six post-war years.

This document is one of a series that Serbia handed over to the Hague Prosecutor's Office about ten years ago, but on the condition that certain parts be redacted or not used at all.

This letter, sent to Prime Minister Đinđić by the then Chief of the General Staff of the Yugoslav Army, General Nebojša Pavković, proposed that 1,841 professional members of the 30th Personnel Center be removed from the budget of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, and that their financing be taken over by the Government of RS.

It was also emphasized that the monthly income of the members of the 30th Personnel Center was higher than the income of the members of the Yugoslav Army.

Among the 1,841 members of the 30th Personnel Center paid by then-Serbia, headed by President Vojislav Koštunica, on the list is Hague indictee Ratko Mladić, General Momir Talić, who was indicted by the Hague Prosecutor's Office in 1999 for crimes in Bosnia and Herzegovina (died in 2003), Radislav Krstić, sentenced to 35 years in prison for genocide in Srebrenica, Novak Đukić, sentenced to 20 years for the crime at the Tuzla Gate...

Also, a large number of those who received salaries from Serbia's budget as members of the 30th Personnel Center of the Yugoslav Army until 2001 are now high-ranking officers in the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and intelligence-police agencies at the state and entity level of RS.
