Israeli President Herzog: War with Iran requires an 'end result', not a precise timeframe

(Patria) - Israeli President Isaac Herzog on Tuesday did not offer a timeframe for when the war with Iran might end, telling German newspaper Bild: "We must take a deep breath and arrive at the final result", Reuters reported.

Herzog said that American and Israeli attacks on Iran are changing the configuration of the Middle East. He defended the attacks on Iranian oil fields as a way to take money away from Iran's "war machine".

The interview was published at a time when the United States and Israel attacked Iran with what the Pentagon and Iranians on the ground called the most intense air strikes of the war, despite global markets betting that President Donald Trump would soon try to end the conflict.

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar had previously said that his country does not plan for an endless war and is consulting with Washington on when to stop it.
"It is the Iranians who are spreading chaos and terror throughout the region and the world. So, I think if we measure everything with a speedometer, we won't get anywhere. We must take a deep breath and arrive at the final result," Herzog told Bild.

Removing the Iranian threat "would allow the entire system in the region to breathe again and continue to develop. That's fantastic," he added.
