Israeli attacks on southern Beirut several hours after Iran's attack on Israel

(Patria) - At least five Israeli missiles hit the southern suburbs of Beirut early on Wednesday, a Lebanese security source said, while the Israeli army said it was targeting Hezbollah locations, AFP reported.

"At least five Israeli strikes targeted the southern suburbs of Beirut," the source said, requesting anonymity as they were not authorized to speak to the media.

The Israeli army announced that it is "currently targeting Hezbollah terrorist targets in Beirut." Israel has repeatedly bombed the southern suburbs of Beirut, a densely populated Hezbollah stronghold where Israel says it is targeting locations belonging to the group, since last week. In a massive attack in that area on Friday, Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah was killed.

Israeli army spokesperson Avichay Adraee earlier issued orders to residents on X.

"You are located near dangerous Hezbollah facilities, against which (the Israeli army) will act with force in the near future," read one of the warnings, mentioning the Haret Hreik area.

The Israeli attack followed only a few hours after Iran's attack on Israel.
