Israeli Defense Minister: No ceasefire until Hezbollah is disarmed

(Patria) - Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said that he will not agree to any ceasefire in Lebanon until the complete disarmament of Hezbollah is ensured and the movement withdraws north of the Litani River or allows the residents of northern Israel to return to their homes.

- We will not agree to any ceasefires, we will not take our foot off the gas, and we will not allow any agreements that do not include achieving the war goals.

Israel has the right to act independently against terrorist activity. Terrorist infrastructure is collapsing in Beirut, we will continue to target Hezbollah everywhere - Katz said.

The Israeli army yesterday, for the second day in a row, targeted the southern suburbs of Beirut controlled by the movement.

Lebanon is simultaneously awaiting Washington's latest proposals on a ceasefire, after a US official expressed hope that a ceasefire could be reached.

More than seven weeks since the start of the Israeli offensive on Lebanon, several buildings in the Beirut suburb of Dahieh were razed in the latest attacks, and six people were killed in a village south of the capital.
