Israeli troops withdrawing from parts of Gaza, Great Britain will not send soldiers

(Patria) - Israeli forces have begun to withdraw from parts of Gaza, reports the BBC. IDF military radio journalist Doron Kadosh wrote on X that the army estimates that by noon local time they will be in positions provided for by the agreement. He adds that this implies Hamas has 72 hours thereafter to return the hostages.

BBC correspondent in Gaza Rushdi Abualouf previously reported that Israeli forces had begun to withdraw from the northwestern edges of Gaza City, while AFP, citing a civil defense official in Gaza, reported that military vehicles had also withdrawn from parts of Khan Younis.

British Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper said there were no plans for British or European forces to be present in Gaza after a ceasefire was reached.

"That is not our plan, there are no plans for that," she told the BBC this morning. She added that the US is leading a proposal for a monitoring process to ensure the implementation of the agreement on the ground, including the release of hostages and the delivery of humanitarian aid, while neighboring countries are expected to provide security on the ground.

Cooper said she hoped the ceasefire would be implemented "immediately," adding that an international discussion was underway about a possible "international security mission," while the United Kingdom is contributing in other ways, including encouraging private investment in Gaza.
