Israeli troops withdrawn from Netzarim corridor in central Gaza

(Patria) - Israel has completely withdrawn its troops from the Netzarim corridor between the northern and southern parts of the Gaza Strip, reported the Ynet portal, as cited by TASS.

According to the news portal, this was done in accordance with the agreement on the release of hostages with Hamas and in line with instructions from Israeli political authorities.

After the withdrawal of troops from central Gaza, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) continue to control the Philadelphi Corridor, a narrow strip of land along the Gaza-Egypt border, and a buffer zone along the enclave's border with Israel, Ynet stated.

Hamas confirmed that Israeli troops have been withdrawn from the Netzarim corridor.

"Israel has withdrawn troops from the Netzarim corridor. This is a triumph of the steadfastness of the Palestinian people," Hamas stated on Telegram, adding that it will "continue the fight against Israel until an independent Palestinian state is established" and that it will not allow "plans for the relocation of all Palestinians" to be implemented.

Director of the Institute for Palestinian Studies, Mohammad Almarsi, earlier said that the military command had agreed to allow the presence of American private companies that will inspect the Netzarim checkpoint ahead of the return of displaced persons to their homes in the southern and central parts of Gaza.

According to Almarsi, Palestinians want to return to their destroyed homes and "this will be done under the control of American security companies."
