(Patria) - Israeli warplanes have hit 150 targets since the retaliatory strikes began, a Palestinian security source told the BBC.
This includes several properties believed to be residences of Hamas leaders.
Twenty-four Palestinians, including two women and four children, have been killed since midnight, the source said.
According to Palestinian officials, a total of more than 250 civilians have been killed.
Israeli forces have also targeted banks in Gaza, and a mosque has been demolished. Palestinians are searching the rubble in the hope of finding survivors.
