(Patria) - Lebanese media report heavy artillery fire that hit border towns in southern Lebanon tonight.
Israeli forces are currently conducting limited ground operations against Hezbollah within Lebanon, the US State Department announced.
These operations are aimed at Hezbollah infrastructure near the border, while intense artillery and tank fire is ongoing along the border between Israel and Lebanon. According to State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller, Israel has informed the United States of these operations.
Lebanese media report that Israeli forces have shelled and tanked border villages near Metula, Misgav Am, and Kfar Giladi in northern Israel, which were declared a closed military zone earlier in the day. At the same time, the Lebanese army announced that its units are regrouping and withdrawing three miles from Lebanon's southern border. These repositionings are accompanied by reports of increasingly intense attacks on southern Lebanon.
IDF spokesperson Daniel Hagari called not to publish information about troop movements and did not confirm that a ground operation had begun.
