(Patria) - The Israeli army (IDF) announced yesterday that it killed senior Hamas official Izz al-Din Kassab in an airstrike on Khan Yunis.
The IDF described him as one of the last high-ranking Hamas members responsible for coordinating with other groups in the Gaza Strip.
The Palestinian group mourned Kassab's death in its statement, adding that he was killed along with another Hamas official, Ayman Ayesh, in an Israeli strike on their car in the enclave.
Hamas sources told Reuters that Kassab was a local official of the group in Gaza, but not a member of the decision-making political bureau.
