Israeli army forcibly deports patients from Al-Shifa hospital, as well as displaced Palestinians who were in the building

(Patria) - The Israeli army forcibly deported most of the patients from Al-Shifa hospital in Gaza, as well as all displaced Palestinians who were in the hospital.

Director of Health in Gaza Munir al-Bersh stated that out of 650 patients in the hospital, only about 100-120 people remained and that they need coordination with the United Nations (UN) for their evacuation.

He said they contacted the International Committee of the Red Cross to prevent the relocation of babies in incubators from the hospital. Bersh stated that they can only leave five doctors to assist the patients.

Bersh said on a live broadcast of the Al-Jazeera television channel by phone that Israeli soldiers had been negotiating all night for them to leave Al-Shifa hospital.

Stating that the displaced Palestinians in the hospital were asked to leave on foot and were forced to do so.

Bersh said they left the area with patients on stretchers and wheelchairs and added that they feared Israeli snipers, who were positioned on top of buildings along the road, might open fire on them.

They walked from the hospital towards southern Gaza, and Bersh emphasized that the patients and the wounded beside them were crying for help due to the pain they felt.

Emphasizing that the situation in Al-Shifa hospital, which Israeli soldiers entered, was very bad, Bersh stated that soldiers are constantly walking around the hospital, and snipers are stationed on top of the buildings.
