Israeli army attacked targets in Lebanon from the air

(Patria) - The Israeli army announced that its helicopters are attacking targets in Lebanese territory, without additional details.

For the second day in a row, a smaller attack was launched from southern Lebanon into Israel.

A number of armed men crossed the border near the Lebanese town of Dhayra, and they were killed by Israeli soldiers, supported by combat helicopters, according to the Israeli army.

It is believed that as many as six men were involved, two were killed, three wounded, and one escaped back across the border into Lebanon, although there is no official confirmation of their number.

Mortars also fired at Israel, which then shelled launch sites in Lebanon.

The Iran-backed Hezbollah group said it was not involved in today's attack - Palestinian militant groups have also launched attacks on Israel from the unstable border area in the past.

On Sunday, Hezbollah fired numerous shells and rockets at Israeli targets, in what it called an act of solidarity with the Palestinians.

Lebanon does not want to be drawn into the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati said earlier.

- We do not want Lebanon to enter the ongoing war and we are striving for that - Mikati said at a meeting with Lebanese Foreign Minister Abdullah Bu Habib.

He adds that part of the Lebanese government's priorities is maintaining security and stability in southern Lebanon.
