Israeli government supports ceasefire agreement, Hamas announces war is over

(Patria) - After a multi-hour session, the Israeli government supported the proposed ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, which was reached through diplomatic mediation by the US between Hamas and Israel. Earlier, Hamas announced that the war in Gaza was permanently over and that they had received security guarantees.

According to Israeli media, the draft ceasefire and hostage release agreement being considered by the Israeli security cabinet includes the return of 20 living hostages and the bodies of 28 deceased.

It is expected that the Israeli army will withdraw to agreed deployment lines within 24 hours, meaning the military will retain control over slightly more than half of the Gaza Strip's territory, or 53 percent.

Also, after the withdrawal, the Israeli army will control a buffer zone along the entire Gaza border, including the Philadelphi Corridor, the border area between Egypt and Gaza, along with Beit Hanoun and Beit Lahia in the far north of the Strip, a ridge on the eastern outskirts of Gaza City, and large parts of Rafah and Khan Younis in southern Gaza.
