Israelis will not be able to travel to the Maldives

(Patria) - The government of the Maldives will ban Israelis from entering this small island nation in the Indian Ocean, known for its luxury resorts.

Public anger in this predominantly Muslim country is increasingly growing due to the war in the Gaza Strip, reports RSE.

It was announced yesterday from the presidential cabinet that they have decided to change the laws and ban entry into the country for holders of Israeli passports.

They emphasize that a subcommittee will be formed to monitor the implementation of the decision.

It was also stated that President Mohamed Muizzu will appoint a special envoy to assess Palestinian needs and launch a fundraising campaign.

Nearly 11,000 Israelis visited the Maldives last year, representing 0.6% of the total tourist arrivals in this island country.

The Maldives is the smallest country in Asia, spread across 1,200 coral islands in the Indian Ocean, about 750 kilometers southwest of India.
