(Patria) - Tens of thousands of Israeli demonstrators took to the streets of Tel Aviv and elsewhere on Saturday, protesting reforms initiated by the coalition, which they say threaten the democratic character of the country, AFP reported.
Saturday's rallies, the 28th since the reform agenda was presented in January, came several days after parliament approved in a first reading a bill that would reduce the "reasonableness" clause, a mechanism by which the judiciary can annul government decisions.
After fierce opposition and growing international criticism, including from US President Joe Biden, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered a "pause" in March to allow talks on the proposals.
That cross-party dialogue collapsed last month.
