Israel uses white phosphorus in attack on Lebanon

(Patria) - The Lebanese National News Agency (NNA), citing its correspondent, reported that Israeli forces targeted forests in southern Lebanon with phosphorus bombs, causing fires.

The attack occurred near the town of Kfar Kila, NNA reported.

Israeli forces are also conducting a "search operation" near Kfar Kila from their base in Metula, a town in northern Israel.

Al Jazeera reported in March that Israel continues to use white phosphorus munitions in southern Lebanon, causing lasting damage and displacing villagers as Israeli officials threaten war.

- Israel's indiscriminate use of white phosphorus munitions in populated areas harms civilians and has forced many to leave their homes - stated Ramzi Kaiss, a Human Rights Watch researcher, in a recent report.
