Israel does not withdraw: Iran warns Israel violates agreement with US, new attacks reported in Lebanon!

(Patria) - Iran has warned that any new Israeli attack on Lebanon, as well as the continuation of the Israeli presence on Lebanese territory, would constitute a violation of the memorandum of understanding reached with the United States.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi told diplomats in Tehran that ending the war in Lebanon is one of the key issues in the agreement with Washington.

“An important thing I want to emphasize is that, in our view, there are two sides to this memorandum - on one side are America and Israel, and on the other are Iran and Hezbollah,” Araghchi said.

“This is perhaps the most important issue in the memorandum - declaring an immediate and permanent end to the war on all fronts, including Lebanon,” he added.

Araghchi stated that Tehran considers the continuation of the Israeli occupation of parts of Lebanese territory a direct violation of the agreement.

“The continuation of the Israeli occupation of Lebanese territory constitutes a violation of the memorandum of understanding,” the Iranian foreign minister said, adding that any new Israeli attack on Lebanon from now on “will never be accepted.”

New reports of attacks

Despite this warning, the Lebanese state news agency NNA reported that Israeli artillery shelled the area around al-Rayhana in the Jezzine district in southern Lebanon this morning.

NNA also reported that an Israeli drone hit a van in the Bint Jbeil district, also in the south of the country. There are no reports of casualties so far, and these claims could not be independently verified.

During the night, Hezbollah reportedly claimed responsibility for an attack on Israeli soldiers advancing towards Kfar Tebnit, a location about six kilometers north of the Litani River and near the city of Nabatieh.

Negotiations continue in Switzerland

Araghchi confirmed that Iran and the US will begin a new round of negotiations in Switzerland on Friday, after the memorandum is signed in Geneva.

The ceremony is expected to be attended by US Vice President JD Vance and Iran's chief negotiator Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf.

Although the intensity of Israeli attacks on Lebanon has decreased following the announcement of the framework agreement between the US and Iran, analysts believe it is unlikely they will stop completely.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu previously stated that Israel will not withdraw from the territory it holds in Lebanon, despite the ceasefire agreement. He insists that Israel retains the right to protect communities in the north of the country from Hezbollah's rockets and drones.

Israel claims it is targeting Hezbollah positions and fighters, but civilians and civilian infrastructure regularly fall victim in widespread attacks across southern Lebanon.

Hezbollah praises Iran but announces continued resistance

Hezbollah described the Iran-US agreement as a “great achievement” for Tehran, claiming it could lead to the “full liberation of our country” and the return of prisoners.

At the same time, this Iran-backed Lebanese group stated that it remains committed to resisting Israel “until a full withdrawal is achieved.”

Thus, Lebanon becomes one of the most sensitive issues in the next phase of US-Iranian negotiations. Iran now openly ties the fate of southern Lebanon to the agreement with Washington, while Israel tries to maintain freedom of action amid growing pressure from the US not to jeopardize the fragile diplomatic process.
