(Patria) - UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has been denied entry to Israel because he "unequivocally" condemned Iran's missile attack on Israel, the Israeli Foreign Minister announced.
Iran launched more than 180 ballistic missiles at Israel on Tuesday evening, further escalating the situation in the Middle East.
Guterres issued a brief statement the same day, mentioning the "latest attacks in the Middle East," condemning the conflicts and noting that "escalation after escalation" was occurring.
Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz stated that Guterres' failure to directly condemn Iran makes him unwelcome in Israel.
- Whoever cannot unequivocally condemn Iran's heinous attack on Israel, as almost all countries in the world have done, does not deserve to set foot on Israeli soil - Katz said, adding:
- Israel will continue to defend its citizens and preserve its national dignity, with or without Antonio Guterres.
