(Patria) - Israel announced on Monday that the Red Cross handed over the body of another deceased hostage from Gaza to the Israeli army, according to a statement from the Israeli Prime Minister's office, Reuters reported last night.
If the hostage's identity is confirmed, it means that the remains of twelve others remain in Gaza, and the Palestinian militant group Hamas cites obstacles in locating them in the rubble.
Earlier on Monday, the armed wing of Hamas announced that it would hand over the body of a deceased hostage they found on Monday in Gaza.
Finding and handing over the bodies of deceased hostages in Gaza has been one of the obstacles to US President Donald Trump's plan for Gaza.
An Israeli government spokesperson said on Sunday that Hamas knows where the bodies are located.
On Sunday, Israel allowed an Egyptian technical team to enter and cooperate with the Red Cross in locating the bodies. The team would use excavators and trucks to search behind the so-called yellow line in Gaza, behind which Israeli troops initially withdrew according to Trump's plan.
