(Patria) - A Syrian war monitor said on Wednesday evening that Israeli airstrikes targeted sites belonging to the army of ousted President Bashar al-Assad in the coastal provinces of Latakia and Tartus, news agencies reported.
"Israeli warplanes launched airstrikes" on "military sites" including "the port of Latakia" as well as warehouses in the neighboring province of Tartus, the London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.
The Observatory added that "Israeli warplanes continue to destroy what remains of the Syrian military arsenal for the fourth consecutive day since the fall of the former regime."
In recent days, Israel has targeted airports, ports, military bases, weapons depots, research centers in hundreds of airstrikes across Syria.
Israeli officials said they are doing so to prevent advanced Syrian weapons from falling into the hands of extremists who could threaten Israel.
