Israel abandons retaliatory strike on Iran

(Patria) - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has abandoned a retaliatory strike on Iran after talks with US President Joe Biden, claims the New York Times.

Biden dissuaded Netanyahu in a phone call from approving an immediate retaliatory strike on Iran after the country launched about 300 drones and missiles at Israel yesterday.

Several members of the Israeli war cabinet were in favor of launching a retaliatory strike on Iran, but it was abandoned because the Iranian attacks did not cause serious damage, as well as due to Netanyahu's talks with Biden.

Biden announced today, after a meeting with his national security team, that the US commitment to Israel's security is "ironclad".

Otherwise, he interrupted his weekend trip to the US state of Delaware to discuss events in the Middle East.

Sources close to Biden told CNN that the US will not participate in an attack on Iran.
