Israel: Our troops entered 'the heart of Gaza City'

(Patria) - Israeli troops are operating "in the heart of Gaza City", said Defense Minister Yoav Gallant. He said that the infantry is supported by armored vehicles, tanks and military engineers, the BBC reported.

Hamas claims to be inflicting losses on Israeli forces and destroying their vehicles.
Gallant said troops were destroying Hamas infrastructure and that Yahya Sinwar, whom Israel says planned the group's October 7 attack, was isolated in his bunker.
Israel's ground operation has been accompanied by airstrikes, which have killed more than 10,000 people, including thousands of children, according to the Hamas-run health agency in Gaza.

At least 23 people were killed in airstrikes on Tuesday in the southern cities of Rafah and Khan Younis, health ministry officials said. Israel has told Gaza residents to go to southern Gaza for their safety.

World Health Organization spokesperson Christian Lindmeier said the "level of death and suffering" in the conflict is "hard to comprehend" and that an average of 160 children in Gaza have been killed every day. The army released video footage of Israeli armored vehicles operating along the coastal road and south of the city center, stating that Israel has now surrounded the entire area. But it does not mean that Gaza City is on the verge of defeat. It is considered Hamas's largest stronghold, full of tunnels and bunkers. Israel's advance into Gaza City has also caused a new exodus of civilians.
