Israel dropped 6,000 bombs on Gaza in six days, more than during the entire 2014 conflict

(Patria) - Israeli forces dropped about 6,000 bombs on Gaza between October 7 and 12, according to a statement from the Israeli Air Force (IAF). This is equivalent to the total number of airstrikes on Gaza during the entire conflict between Gaza and Israel in 2014, which lasted from July 7 to August 26 of that year, according to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).

As of Thursday, the sixth day of the current conflict, at least 1,537 people have been killed in Gaza, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health.

According to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), about 340,000 people have had to leave their homes since last Saturday, mostly from border towns in the north and east of the Gaza Strip. About two-thirds are seeking shelter in schools of the UN agency for Palestinian refugees UNRWA. Others are seeking shelter with relatives further west in Gaza, but the Israeli Air Force is also bombing targets there, as is the Israeli Navy from the sea.

Many people in Gaza are already fearful and traumatized from past wars.

Israeli airstrikes are more intense and fierce than all previous ones.

Gaza is without electricity, water, and food. A humanitarian crisis has ensued, and few European and world officials are warning Israel that civilians in Gaza must not be victims of the conflict.

Israel has called on civilians to move to southern Gaza, but the UN has warned that this is impossible, especially for the wounded and those under hospital care.
