Surprised by the reaction: Čović accuses embassies of participating in the election campaign

HDZ BiH President Dragan Čović sent a letter to the ambassadors of Canada, France, Germany, Japan, the Netherlands, Spain, Turkey, Great Britain, the United States, as well as the Office of the High Representative and the OSCE, which was also published on the official website of HDZ BiH.

Čović stated that he did not receive a copy of the letter sent to the media as a joint statement from the mentioned embassies.

- You label the Croatian Democratic Union of Bosnia and Herzegovina (HDZ BiH) as a party that is not genuinely interested in implementing the decision of the Constitutional Court of BiH on the Criminal Procedure Code, which would satisfy international standards and ensure the effective work of the prosecution and courts at the BiH level. As the legitimate representative of the Croat people in the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina and as the president of the party which you have, in an inappropriate and unacceptable manner, publicly blamed as the main culprit, I point out that I was unpleasantly surprised by the statement and its content, for which I responsibly claim it has no connection to reality - Čović's letter states.

He further informed the representatives of the international community in the letter that "the process of preparing amendments to this law in terms of implementing the relevant decision of the Constitutional Court of BiH does not differ in any way from other similar processes that have their precisely defined methodological and institutional sequence."

Čović is "convinced that there is no room for free and arbitrary assessments that unjustly try to shift responsibility to the field of political parties' activities."

- Such an approach is extremely tendentious and unfounded for the reasons stated above. HDZ BiH is just one of the parliamentary parties, and the fact that its minister heads the relevant ministry means nothing because he does not actually create the proposals you find controversial.

In his address, he states that the embassies that are signatories to the letter "unnecessarily contribute to the creation of a negative public perception, while at the same time, outside all standards, you participate in the politicization of an important internal issue in the election campaign, thereby becoming part of it, which is absurd."
