SARAJevo, (Patria) - Following the session of the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sarajevo, the Federal Minister of Labour and Social Policy, Vesko Drljača, addressed the journalists. The Minister spoke about the Draft amendments to the Labour Law in FBiH.
"We want to strengthen the economy, create predispositions, and preserve as many jobs as possible, including very important funds, as well as the healthcare segment, Pension and Disability Insurance (PIO), and social services. The exclusive wish and intention of the legislator is to find optimal solutions. The Government cannot do this without social partners, which is why I want to thank both employers and trade unions for their willingness. The Government is aware of its obligations.
What we agreed on yesterday is the stance that the draft of the Labour Law amendments will certainly not proceed until the minimum wage or the general collective agreement is determined. We can achieve a lot through joint will, which is why we want to strengthen and continue the continuity of cooperation," said Drljača.
The Minister emphasized that the minimum wage, which they consider acceptable, is in the range of 650 to 700 KM net.
Mevludin Bektić, representative of the Alliance of Independent Trade Unions, said that they have found understanding from social partners to continue discussions and that he hopes a joint solution will be reached in the continuation.
"We cannot be hostages forever; we will demand that they promptly offer us a solution," he said.
Adnan Smailbegović from the Association of Employers of FBiH is confident that together they will reach the best option for both employees and employers:
"We appreciate that social dialogue is important; it is very important to sit down calmly and discuss the details."
