The first posthumous retrospective exhibition titled „Mersad Berber – Allegory of Bosnia” was opened on July 6 in the packed City Hall. This unique exhibition display, consisting of 35 works from the most important segments of this eminent Bosnian painter, graphic artist and tapestry maker, was organized under the patronage of member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Bakir Izetbegović and co-patronage of the Mayor of Sarajevo Abdulah Skaka, and the Berber family, reports the Patria agency.
- Before you is one of the most significant art exhibitions in the last half century. It is a great honor for me to be the patron of this unique cultural event, which we wholeheartedly gift to all citizens of Sarajevo and Bosnia and Herzegovina - said Izetbegović.
Mayor Skaka expressed satisfaction that Berber's works are displayed in the beautiful setting of the restored City Hall, an architectural gem worthy of the exhibited works of one of the most significant Bosnian-Herzegovinian visual artists. The opening of the exhibition was attended by members of the Berber family, and guests from the political, public and cultural life of the city and the country.
Citizens and guests of the city, as well as from across the country, will have the opportunity to visit the exhibition in the next two months.
