Exhibition on Sustainable Peace on the Centenary of World War I

Vanesa Glođo, BiH actress, is the ambassador for the Making Peace Sarajevo 2014 project, of the International Peace Bureau from Geneva, within which a photo exhibition will be ceremonially opened on Saturday, June 28, at 10:30 AM in front of the Academy of Fine Arts, Patria reports.

The opening of the exhibition will also be attended by the Mayor of Sarajevo Ivo Komšić, Secretary General of the International Peace Bureau Colin Archer, Director of Cooperation at the Swiss Embassy in BiH Joseph Gunterno, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands Jurriaan Kraak, exhibition curator Ashley Woods, and representative of the City of Utrecht, Mayor's advisor Hans Sakkers.

The Making Peace exhibition is an outdoor photo exhibition that, after Geneva, Stockholm, Utrecht, and Strasbourg, is coming to Sarajevo as part of the City of Sarajevo's commemorative program – 100 years since the assassination of Austrian heir Archduke Franz Ferdinand in Sarajevo and the beginning of World War I (1914-2014).

The exhibition, which presents a holistic concept of peace, will be on display for eight weeks, until September 21, 2014.

The exhibition is divided into five sections, as the IPB believes there are five fundamental elements that can collectively contribute to achieving peace, and has assigned a different color to each. Only when all five elements are present can sustainable peace be achieved. The five elements leading to sustainable peace are:

• disarmament and non-violence;
• conflict prevention and resolution;
• economic and social justice;
• human rights, rule of law, and democracy; and
• environment and sustainable development.
