Armin Durgut's "Mrtvare" Exhibition to be Presented in Zagreb Tonight

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The exhibition "Mrtvare" by BiH photojournalist Armin Durgut and the Potočari Memorial Center, which is another testimony to the Srebrenica genocide, will be presented tonight at the Islamic Center in Zagreb.

"Mrtvare" was first presented last year, on the 26th anniversary of the genocide.

In over 50 photographs, the author presented the footwear of the murdered Srebrenica residents, in which they fled from the genocide to the free territory.

Durgut told Fena that even the footwear indicates that these people were belittled and that their death was planned.

"In the West, that footwear was used for the dead, they buried them in those shoes. These are 'mrtvare' (dead shoes), and the exhibition bears that name," the author states.

The shoes in the photographs are owned by the Memorial Center in Potočari, whose team visits the paths of the death march, where most of the shoes were found. They have about 100, and the exhibition presents half.

The exhibition at the Islamic Center in Zagreb is organized by the Council of the Bosniak National Minority of the City of Zagreb and the Bosniak National Community for the City of Zagreb and Zagreb County in memory of the genocide against Bosniaks of Srebrenica and Podrinje.
