Exhibition by Merima Ibrišimović in Tuzla

The International Portrait Gallery Tuzla will host the first solo exhibition of paintings by academic painter Merima Ibrišimović, titled RESET.

The exhibition features thirty paintings created in the last five years. Chronologically and in a narrower thematic sense, it can be divided into three parts. The first two parts show the world we know, its changes and disappearance, while the third part deals with the new beginning of life.

- The author Merima Ibrišimović's inner view of the world, expressive, marked by the choice of colors, brushstrokes, technique, speaks with her own vision and creative personality. The awareness of life defined by paintings, the rejection of its givenness, is actually an inquiry into perception through the medium of painting. The basic expression of the mimetic natural anchor is stopped somewhere between expressionism and abstraction, guided by fragmentation. Fragments of nature, abstracted almost to complete unrecognizability, strive to exist as products of emotional psychological reflections of the new reality. Staticity is attacked by gestural color accents, the play of lines and space within the pictorial plane – states dr. Maja Hrvanović in her critical review.

Merima Ibrišimović was born in 1982 in Tuzla. In 2007, she graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo, in the class of prof. Radoslav Tadić. Since then, she has been actively involved in artistic work and participates in various projects related to art and culture.

She has exhibited in over forty group exhibitions, most often with the Art Center Lukavac Association, the Tuzla Association "Manufaktura", and the Tuzla art group "Scena". She has participated in about ten art colonies. She leads several art workshops for children and youth, and has been working as a fine arts teacher for ten years.

The exhibition is organized by UG "Aurora" Tuzla, "Pyxis", and the International Portrait Gallery Tuzla. The exhibition will open on March 26 at 8 PM, writes Patria.
