Exhibition "Anne Frank – History, Istorija, Povijest for Today" in Sarajevo

Tomorrow, April 20th, the traveling exhibition "Anne Frank – History, Istorija, Povijest for Today" will open in Sarajevo, featuring numerous details from the life of the Jewish girl and her family from the end of World War II on thirty-two panels, and also addresses the issue of the reappearance of Nazi ideology in the modern world, reports the Patria News Agency.

Admission is free, and the exhibition will be open until May 7th, on weekdays from 12 PM to 4 PM at the Novi Hram Gallery in Sarajevo. After Sarajevo, the exhibition will be shown in Banja Luka, and in other cities in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The girl, recognized worldwide as a symbol of childhood victimhood in the Holocaust, was born in Frankfurt am Main in 1929. Four years later, she moved to Amsterdam with her family after anti-Jewish laws came into effect in Germany. At the beginning of the occupation by Hitler's Nazis, the Franks moved into a secret hiding place where they spent two years until they were discovered. The entire family was deported to camps. Fifteen-year-old Anne died in the camp, and the only surviving family member was Otto Frank, her father, who published his daughter Anne's diary.

The exhibition is complemented by seven local panels that discuss the history of Bosnia and Herzegovina during and after World War II to the present day, created by experts from Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Visitors will be guided through the exhibition by specially trained students, i.e., peer educators. Peer educators are trained to guide visitors and students from their own and other schools through the exhibition, conveying the knowledge they have acquired on the topics covered by the entire exhibition. In Sarajevo, the peer educators will be students from Dobrinja High School.

Before Sarajevo, the exhibition "Anne Frank – History, Istorija, Povijest for Today" was shown in Mostar.

The organizers of the exhibition are the Youth Initiative for Human Rights in BiH, the Humanity in Action BiH Foundation, the Anne Frank House, and the Jewish Cultural, Educational, and Humanitarian Society "La Benevolencija". The creation of the Anne Frank exhibition "History, Istorija, Povijest for Today" was financed by the European Union, and the presentation of the exhibition in Sarajevo was made possible by funds from the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
